Time Is Up

Words and music by Bill Price

Trial and error spins me round and round
I've been climbing the stairs - climbing upside down
But blinding me bright, a spotlight strikes the stage
Man says, "It's show time - time is up"

History ails me - what haven't I done?
Mystery trails me every rising sun
My ear's to the ground in this early, ugly age
I hear the earth say, "Time is up"

Time is your currency - it's all that fills your cup
What are you waiting for? Never mind - time is up

I'll try not to hurt you - all that precious past
But if patience is a virtue, I'm backsliding fast
I'm pacing here like a convict in a cage
A siren screams - time is up

Time is your currency - it's all that fills your cup
What are you waiting for? Never mind - time is up

When it's dark on dark - in those spots of time, the sun will always know
The hard depart - is getting gone when the chimes shiver go - not stopping before the start

Confusion and motion hit me fast as a fist
I'm tossed on the ocean without a map in the mist
But I'm setting sail like an Escher off the page
I'm free and clear - time is up

Time is your currency - it's all that fills your cup
What are you waiting for? Never mind - time is up
