Sticks & Stones

Words and music by Bill Price

Man in the moon, he loves the woman in the shoe
Unicorns and beanstalks for the Captain Kangaroo
But Peter Pan, he is maimed at a time when his magic is most prone
I'm so tired of these sticks and stones

Sticks and stones, sticks and stones
Cast upon the innocent - I hear the heavens groan
Sticks and stones, sticks and stones
Could be building character instead of breaking bones

Polar bears and pandas - we got rhinos on the run
I see the ghost of the Redwoods - I can't believe the things we've done
It seems that man is threatened by anything that he cannot own
Sometimes I wish they would just leave the moon alone

Sticks and stones, sticks and stones
Making tatters of the tapestry and what the web of life has sewn
Sticks and stones, sticks and stones
We could be saving paradise instead of breaking bones

Beliefs ablaze - we're cast away
We cast the very anchor that's holding us at bay
Waters part - land is near
But we can only drown sailing this ship of fear

These corporate empires waving red, white and bleak
Go forging unforgiving - crushing anything that's weak
We're minded by the mindless - it seems that they've never ever known
Lord, I'm so tired of these sticks and stones

Sticks and stones, sticks and stones
Cast by the dungeon - they're cast by the throne
Sticks and stones, sticks and stones
Could be breaking barriers instead of breaking bones
